EU Constitution signing: MEPs give a boost

Regarding the signature in Rome tomorrow of the new EU Constitution, Baroness Sarah Ludford, Liberal Democrat MEP for London and Lib Dem European Justice spokeswoman said:

"This week's recognition of the European Parliament's democratic role in Europe's governance is a boost to support for the EU Constitution."

"The EU is growing up when our citizens can see that the representatives they directly elect can call the executive to account."

"There should be no turf wars in the EU system, just a demonstration of appropriate checks and balances so people can see who does what, and why."
